That thing we do…

This has been lolling in my head for a while but space, time, and will hasn’t afforded transition from thought to action. I was going to suggest how funny it is, but would rather call it stupid instead. Imagine suffering from a congenital disease that got treated but with qualified advice to stay off its triggers but by dint of whats not readily defined, there just happens to be occassional destructive tendencies of activating or inculcating in this triggers. The stupidity then becomes manifest with the next action of rather running away or staying put from the doctor or physician or prescriptions necessary for healing. The above seems the perfect example of the actions i have seen replayed over time as per our walk with the Lord. For most, its a sin or misdemeanour they find themselves in despite repeated vows to never engage in same. For the rest of this sizable group of real beings, its what happens when things refuse to play out as we will have it. It could ran...

TRUTH HOTS…

It may come as a whisper A shout across the street A scrawl on a rumpled piece of paper A line in a song A drunken slur It may very well be a demonstration A blend of display worth a thousand words Oh, it could be from a stranger A companion A lifetime friend or a new acquaintance A spouse or another significant order It could be from a parent Or a sibling: brother or sister Elder or younger Close or far All with a form of access You may be too shocked to utter a word It may numb you Or stun you into silence and thoughtfulness It may catch you mid stride Knock you to dreamy sleep Or render you restless It could make you want to scream Or draw tears from your eyes Or just leave you staring into space. Whatever it does to you Face it and phase it The consideration phase The testing phase The dissection phase And of course, the action phase Whatever you do, let them truth spur you to do Do something; act right It may hurt ...

Whats in a Kiss?

Image
Just this last weekend, I was just strolling by one of the residential streets that leads to the main road of the CBD that I usually walk to clear my head or get some fresh lagoon sourced breeze when I heard the excited laughter of a baby boy of about 6 months or thereabout. The cute young being's laughter was punctuated by little kisses on the lips by a beautiful young woman who also had a bright smile on her face. The lucky baby tended to laugh harder with an obvious (even if unconscious and innocent) twinkle after each kiss. The innocence, beauty, and endearment of that poignant episode prompted my making both a physical and mental note to research the mystery of an act so simple but effectively expressive, then share same with y'all. Enjoy the result of my findings below: The first literary evidence for kissing dates back 3,500 years to India’s Vedic Sanskrit texts. No word exists for “kiss” but there’s a reference to lovers “setting mouth to mouth” and a man “drinking...

EXTRAVAGANT THANKSGIVING TO AN AWESOMELY EXTRAVAGANTLY GENEROUS GOD

Image
Howdy Blessed Beings? So today was Thanksgiving Sunday across all Baptist Churches and our own theme was 'Extravagant Thanksgiving' In the months leading to this thanksgiving, my pastor and the leading members of the thanksgiving committee had been singing the recurrent song of us all coming to offer God more than we ever have offered before now. The Reverend had been charging all that cared to listen to come with the mind of being extravagant with their possessions before God, even if whats on offer is all that is left - the crux is that the giving must exceed what had ever been given before now and of course he added the truth that God will surprise us accordingly. Now, my '20 kobo' on the topic under discussion goes thus. It is trite to state that we are not as buoyant as we used to as a nation, as firms, businessmen and even individuals. This constriction or limitation extends even to the looters who can't siphon the nation's funds as they used to befo...

EAT THAT FROG!

Image
Top of the mo, Pips! Its a beautiful Saturday Afternoon here and my excitement at sharing what I have for us today won't let me paint the exact picture of the ambient environment here. The much I can say is that Man City is leading Middlesbrough by a goal in the ongoing premier league game on the background here but then I have got to achieve my goal of posting this afternoon. Not like I care much about the blue side of Manchester anyways, at least not presently that we are 7 places below them. 'Eat that frog' the caption above reads, but my interest this afternoon is not to promote bizarre cuisine or weird delicacies but to prick awareness towards a key practice we all need to imbibe if we are to make any move towards those big dreams and plans of ours. I refer GOAL SETTING! Ever wondered how great being able to deal with or totally eradicate procrastination in our lives would be? Ever wished for some sort of divine touch that can just make you do what you 've g...

Welcome to Ocolc's Lair

Hello Wonderful People.  It pleasures me greatly to finally step out here to share the many thoughts that have been running around in my head. Thoughts that range from physical to spiritual; terrestrial to celestial; pious to salacious; religion to politics; ordinary to extraordinary; stupid to ingenuously wise, and many more as they blossom. While I have quite an incongruous mix of taste sometime, I am fundamentally eclectic, hence there will always be something for everyone. To them that know me as that level headed, easy-going, see no evil, hear no evil chap; you may be mildly surprised sometimes on this blog. For them that do not know me at all before; I beg you to please be open minded. For the new friends, I will be making from now on, remember I am actually the side of me you are able to unveil. What I promise all however is to be the best side of me, you are able to unveil per time. I promise to be as sincere as ever, even in my many fictions. I pro...
