FOR YOUR MIND - YOUR THOUGHT TREASURES

Image
A good man out of the good treasures of his heart brings forth good things. An evil man out of the evil treasures of his heart brings forth evil things (Matt 12:35) Note the underlined words and the following: Not all treasures are good. Be conscious of your thought treasures. Your mind must be stocked with good thoughts to bring forth good things. Thinking right is believing in the goodness of our hearts i.e stocking up on the good treasures of our hearts so much so that there will be no room for evil thoughts These good thoughts must be engaged as often as humanly possible to fully ingrain it to our system. It all begins with what we meditate on. What we allow our minds to dwell on. Sieve your thoughts and remove all procrastination, lethargy and anxiety and replace with timely fulfilment of duties, productive activities, and faith. Fill your mind with good treasures: progressive, empowering, exciting and soul lifting thoughts, Be sure to leave no room for the

FOR YOUR MIND....AN INTRODUCTION

Image
The mind is a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness , perception , thinking , judgement , and memory . It is usually defined as the faculty of an entity's thoughts and consciousness . It holds the power of imagination, recognition, and appreciation, and is responsible for processing feelings and emotions, resulting in attitudes and actions (wikipedia.org) Yesterday, I was in a bus accident and had my leg pinned between the lowest step of the bus and the automatic doors of a bus for a few minutes. It was excruciatingly painful but as I screamed at the top of my lungs to get the attention of the Bus-man - who probably because the bus was filled to the brim with passengers who seemed to be screaming at the same time - did not react as promptly as would have been expected, the unconscious instruction that came to me was 'take your mind off it, and ride the pain. And of course, while I won't say the pain stopped instantly, I can recall vividly that, th

You can't be ready enough!

When I put forth these pieces, its because they talk to me or address a fault I feel has been latching on to me for too long. I know how long it took me to start this blog and how much I mull taking it to the next notch of relevance in terms of aesthetics and content. Nothing however has pricked my lethargy more than the pragmatic piece below. While I have read the story of Mr. Branson's advent into the business world a few times, the link to the current theme just never struck till encountering Jame's Clear's offering below. It has struck that cord in me to get at it now, instead of waiting till am all set and 'loaded' to pursue those dreams, ideas, and aspirations. I hope your fire is stoked too and you are roused outta your lethargic waiting. Let's go there: Successful People Start Before They Feel Ready by James Clear In 1966, a dyslexic sixteen-year-old boy dropped out of school. With the help of a friend, he started a magazine for students an

Keeping up with the good you should do

Apostle Paul said  in the good book that he knows the good he ought to do but finds himself doing the opposite. While we can attest to the regularity of the imbroglio he refers; we can easily identify with it in our own life. We know tons of good things to do, steps to take to advance us from where we are to where we want to be but are just caught in that whiff of persistent inconsistency. Below is one of my favourite James Clear piece. I am putting this to practice forthwith, hoping you join me too: How to Stick With Good Habits Every Day by Using the “Paper Clip Strategy” by James Clear   In 1993, a bank in Abbotsford, Canada hired a 23-year-old stock broker named Trent Dyrsmid. Dyrsmid was a rookie so nobody at the firm expected too much of his performance. Moreover, Abbotsford was still a relatively small suburb back then, tucked away in the shadow of nearby Vancouver where most of the big business deals were being made. The first popular email services like AOL and Ho

Sinmi leans back, looks into space and begins... 'He can’t be regarded as tall, or heavily built, or dashingly handsome; but his carriage, demeanour and easy smile more often than not exude the aura of a man with those 3 physical qualities.'  'Hmmmmn...' her audience of one, her friend and confidant, Toju hums. She nods knowingly and encourages her on. 'Continue please, am all eyes and ears'  'Although, I didn’t think much of it then....' Sinmi continues '...I recall his composed walk towards us that day. He was clutching a book as usual. He seems to be unable to leave his hands free or without a book, the few times I had seen him before then, he was always seen with one form of reading material or the other. That day, he had looked around intently and nodded a silent greeting towards us as his gaze fell on our group and finally rested on Bro. Victor. ‘Do you know she can hardly speak in pidgin and her primary school was in the Ar
