FOR YOUR MIND....AN INTRODUCTION
The mind is a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement, and memory. It is usually defined as the faculty of an entity's thoughts and consciousness.
It holds the power of imagination, recognition, and appreciation, and
is responsible for processing feelings and emotions, resulting in
attitudes and actions (wikipedia.org)
Yesterday, I was in a bus accident and had my leg pinned between the lowest step of the bus and the automatic doors of a bus for a few minutes. It was excruciatingly painful but as I screamed at the top of my lungs to get the attention of the Bus-man - who probably because the bus was filled to the brim with passengers who seemed to be screaming at the same time - did not react as promptly as would have been expected, the unconscious instruction that came to me was 'take your mind off it, and ride the pain. And of course, while I won't say the pain stopped instantly, I can recall vividly that, the anxiety and fear of me loosing my swag to a possible limp left first, then the feeling that the whole weight of the bus was on my leg dissapeared, then eventually, I was able to twis my leg into some little space available, then to freedom despite the door still being latched tight.
Yes, I was lucky. Yes, things could have been worse. Yes, I am probably making mountains off mole-hills but am certain no one will be smiling if in that exact same position as I was yesterday. I am however not here this time to discuss my bravery or otherwise with you but to draw your attention to that last part of wiki's definition of the mind, particularly its being responsible for processing feelings and emotions, resulting in
attitudes and actions
The FOR YOUR MIND series debuts tommorow and will be nugget or bullet points of thoughts you can pre-install or upgrade your mind in daily to better prepare you for those day to day life things. It is my prayer that we ride this together and become better at bringing us from our place of being to becoming timously.
